sending love your way
(a few of my heart shaped stones that haven't been painted as birds yet)
... and the paperwhites which have been exiled to the front porch due to their so-called fragrance
(all I can say about that is: P U !)

a good day for the beach
(Mukilteo Beach on Puget Sound)
I gave myself a mini escape to the beach a few days before Christmas
not to catch any rays (the sun went down at 4:00)
but to look for stones
isn't it an amazing place?
I never tire of it - no matter how cold it is
(not much sand - but lots of great beach stones!)
and now I've washed and dried the stones I collected
and painted them too
(another thing I never tire of - perhaps the most relaxing art project ever!)

refrigerator poetry and other things
it is cold and drizzly outside
but colorful
and we are indoors with our creativity
one of us is fixing things
(like a broken light switch)
another one is sewing
(an Alice in Wonderland Costume)
another one is working on a 4H project
(growing a rose on it's own root)
and another one is at a friend's house
(probably hanging out and eating candy)
and another one painted a bunch of rocks
(that would be me)
the refrigerator poetry is all anonymous
and who wrote what is a mystery
(none of it came from me)
don't you just LOVE that?

moleskine notebooks
mohl-a-skeen-a
I guess that's how you say it
but in my mind it will always be
mole-skin
and I imagine a cute little mole just gotten out of the bathtub

wish out loud
I love the colors they come in .... I turned this little green one into a wish list keeper
![]() |
dream in the daytime
and this little pink one is for keeping a bucket list ... but hey, a shopping list works too
... these are mini ...
only 2.5 X 4 inches
I painted the cover designs with white acrylic paint
and then added a protective acrylic coat
the sleeve I made out of watercolor paper and used paint for the title
the designs I had already noodled out on rocks ages ago
I just transferred the designs onto something flat and colorful
(and perhaps more useful than a rock)
Cyndee Starr at Eloise's Collage has been doodling on notebooks
I think she got the wheels turning in my own head for this idea
thanks Cyndee!

twilight tea
I love daylight savings time
I took these pictures around 7 pm
(7 pm has been black as night since early november)
it's so nice to have some daylight still hanging on
... even after I've gotten all my chores done ...
everyone has been fed and the kitchen is clean
I've made a pot of orange spice tea
and I can sit down at my desk again
it's my favorite spot in the house
with a view of the peach tree
and the old farmhouse across the street
and it only gets better from here to the end of june
(twilight will be at 10 by then)
* * *
do you have daylight savings time?
... I know that people who live in Arizona don't ...
maybe where you live it doesn't make much difference except on the clock
up here in washington state,
if we didn't have the time change,
daybreak would begin around 3 am in the summer

mindless
meditative?
or
mindless repetition?
however you look at it ...
as mandala
or
simple pattern in the round
the brain finds relief

rock collection
my rocks so far
(we had torrential rain yesterday - all day - so it was a good day for rocks)
the penguins
and this one whom we just woke from a nap
are my personal favorites
they are all in my shop (shoppe as Patty says)
in the shop section called "rocking"
tomorrow WILL be sunny and beautiful and the girls and I are going beachcombing
I told them to bring their combs and their tangled hair
they just laughed
... but really ...
first real sunny day since May 19th
but who is counting?
surely not me!
have a beautiful weekend!
xoxo

painted rock
I painted this rock today
(it was the heart shaped one that I picked up at the beach on Whidbey Island a few weeks ago)
in the end I decided it wasn't a heart, but a bird
I have seen hand painted rocks (like Geninne's),
and after many attempts,
I think I have come up with my very own stylized bird
I feel good about it because I am honesly inspired by other artists
but I also did not want to copy
I had one of those kind of breakthroughs that is so energizing
now I just want to paint lots of rocks
... and I know you get what I mean
;)
